Here it is, the awaited post of Brock's--
Grandma's Best Old Fashioned Cinnamon Rolls.
I had a great time sitting in the kitchen with Brock, watching him bake these cinnamon rolls.
I am thoroughly impressed with Brock's baking skills.
This young man knows his way around the kitchen!
The morning I was there, Brock and a friend Caitlin, made three batches of cinnamon rolls--regular, nutella and maple.
I took some photos to document it and also some video.
More about the video later.
Until then, I'll just post the photos.
This is the frozen bread dough that is the base for Brock's cinnamon rolls.
Bridgford Ready-Dough.
The recipe is on the back of the package.
For the filling use:
4 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup chopped pecans
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Thaw the dough in a bowl and let it rise until double in size.
He used all three loaves in the package.
This is Caitlin, one of Brock's friends.
She's chopping the pecans.
Later, she's hopping a jet for the UK--lucky girl!
This is nutella, a hazelnut chocolate spread.
Brock rolled out one loaf of dough into a rectangle and spread the nutella thinly over the surface of the dough.
Then he spread some chopped pecans and dotted the nutella with some of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
The dough was rolled up and sliced into 10 pieces and placed in a greased baking dish.
Give the rolls plenty of space.
This is the batch of regular cinnamon rolls with some of the cinnamon sugar mixture dotted on top of each roll and sprinkled with pecans.
It already looks delicious!
The other batch was made with maple syrup in the middle along with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Into the oven they went--350 degree F oven for 15 - 20 minutes.
Here are the cinnamon rolls straight out of the oven.
Next, the icing!
Mix 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Drizzle icing over the warm cinnamon rolls.
A big thanks goes to Brock's mom Pam for styling the food.
They were delicious!
Thank you, Brock, for making your cinnamon rolls and sharing them!
You'll be seeing more of Brock-- he's going to make waffles next!
It's my first time video recording someone cooking--I realize I have a lot to learn--and Brock, being the good sport that he is, was game to let me try.
Thanks again, Brock!
